In last 25 years Indian refining sector has leapfrogged from 60 MMTPA to 250+ MMTPA capacity with almost 300% growth and the projections are to double the refining capacity to act as the global refining hub. While the refiners need to fulfil the pronouncement of our Honourable Prime Minister to reach Net Zero by 2070, we still have the primary onus to provide for the energy security for the nation on the growth trajectory which requires a balanced approach to meet the requirement in an environmentally benign way.
